How important is the body text?

Content is king! The body text is very important. Whenever possible, each page should contain a body text of 200-800 words. Although in some cases this much text can be difficult to put on a page, the Search engines really like it. It’s to your advantage to increase the amount of copy where you can. This text should include your most important Keyword phrases, but should remain logical and readable. Be sure to use those phrases that you have used in your other tags (i.e. Meta tags, alt, Headings, Title, etc.) during the Optimization process and in addition, be sure they are correctly spelled so that they can be found by both search engines and users who search for them. However, pages over 800 words long are typically too long for Internet writing, so try to stay within the 200-800 word limit.

Add additional copy filled pages to your site such as how-to articles, tips, and tutorials. These types of content pages not only help you in the search engines, but also are an added incentive for other sites to Link to your pages.

Don't ignore this tip! Seriously, optimizing your page copy is one of the most important things you can do to improve your listings in the search engines. Make sure you have plenty of readable body text even if you need to redesign your site to work it in!
